After getting married at the Barn at Bunker Hill in their home state of Iowa, Alecca and Seth knew they also wanted to experience what a true elopement felt like in the mountains! Thankfully they asked me to document both of these days for them and OF COURSE I said yes!
After learning they wanted to head out to Diablo Lake in the North Cascades, I about lost my mind. This had been a bucket list location for so long and my dreams finally came true.
The best way to get to the North Cascades is to fly into Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. From there it is about a 3-hour drive North which isn’t too bad! It allowed me to do all of the tourist things Seattle has to offer like see the fish market, the space needle, etc. After touring Seattle, you can easily find a TON of Airbnb’s in and around the North Cascades which is super awesome. That can also double as a place to get ready in the morning which is exactly what Alecca and Seth chose to do! After getting ready, we all hopped in the car to head to Diablo Lake!
When you arrive, there is a small parking lot literally right next to the pictures showing where they chose to elope which was so nice! Anytime you don’t have to hike and still have amazing views is a WIN! I would suggest getting married on a weekday here as I was told by a few locals this place can get busy on the weekends and you don’t want to have to worry about people getting in your way. We had the entire spot to ourselves which made for some of the most beautiful pictures I have ever taken.
After Diablo lake we decided to venture in and around the North Cascades and hit a couple of pull-off points for some more photos which were so fun! It felt like we had the whole park to ourselves. I can’t think of a more perfect way to elope than choosing the North Cascades with how many spots their are to get married! Of course Diablo Lake is not the only spot to get married at in the park but definitely a beautiful one!
